Visit our cozy fine art/fine crafts gallery on Chincoteague Island's main boulevard. We specialize in unique American-made, high calibre work, made by local and national artists. We are the exclusive representative on the island for Nancy Richards West's original oil paintings and wildlife prints. We are the sole merchant of Chincoteague Tee Shirt Charms and of the Assateague Lighthouse Charms, which were designed exclusively for the store.
Each season we add work by new artists, as well as maintaining our regular collection. There is always something new to see, with new work arriving throughout the season. Check in regularly to see our latest selection.
On the evening of the second Saturday of the months of April through November, we stay open late and host one of many artisans demonstrating their talents. Refreshments are served, and we enjoy the chance to mingle with visitors and patrons. Details on featured artists can be found at the Chincoteague Cultural Alliance site.
Nancy Richards West has been a professional painter on Chincoteague and Assateague Islands for more than 35 years. Nancy was chosen as the first Resident Artist for Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge, and in 1996 was chosen to represent Virginia at The White House Easter Festivities. She also participates in prestigious wildlife and fine arts festivals throughout the East Coast, and is represented by numerous galleries.
In addition to her wildlife paintings created in her studio, Nancy also paints "en plein air," or "in the open air," a tradition of early painters like the French Impressionists. She can be seen around town and on Assateague Island, painting the marshes, beaches and skies of her hometown. Her ability to capture the light and color of the moment make her work popular with collectors, and keep her paintings and prints in high demand. We are proud to be her exclusive representative on Chincoteague Island.
